Getting started with an EV: Silvia's testimony

What electric car do you own?

I own a Tesla Model Y.

What motivated you to choose this car over another?

The infrastructure of charging stations (fast chargers) in Europe, the comfort of the cabin, the power of the engine, the elegance of the design.

What's your routine - Where do you charge on a daily basis?

I charge in my neighborhood, a 10 minutes walk when the battery drops below 20%.

What are the advantages you have seen compared to your old car?

Silence and comfort while driving, engine power, electronic accessories, options (heated steering wheel and seats for example), cameras everywhere for safety, sound/speaker quality. It's incomparable with the 3008 I had before.

What do you think are the disadvantages compared to a combustion car?

The car needs to be updated regularly, the battery discharges quickly when it is cold. But also the need to stop to charge the battery where the car indicates, so adapt and prepare your trip in advance according to the locations of the terminals, to organize yourself differently before setting off - it takes time.

Did you encounter any difficulties that you didn't expect?

I didn't know that I had to update it regularly, especially when the vehicle is stationary in a parking lot. I find it long and restrictive...

Do you have any advice for people who are wondering but haven't yet taken the leap into electric vehicles?

I think you have to go for it and try to be able to judge serenely. It's like everything in life – if we don't have our own experience, it's not possible to compare objectively, there's no experience to really assess the "pros" and "cons". And when you're afraid of the unknown, you get apprehensive and don't make the right decision.

So don't hesitate, go ahead and do a drive test in a dealership, make your own experience with an EV!
